A FIXED light fitting is one that that does not gimble/swivel; it is a strictly down-light only. This downlight fitting features an oversize interior diameter, so as to fit downlights that are taller or fatter than a standard MR16 globe like a halogen. Though this fitting will fit standard halogens too

If you are swapping your halogen lights to better, more energy-efficient technology like LED or CFL downlights, often the new lights will not fit into your existing downlight fittings - the lights are simply too tall or fat. If so, you will need to replace your existing, narrow downlight fittings with these new fittings. It might be a small hassle, but also a very small price to pay for a lifetime of savings
